trying to create a aqua button with text in photoshop cs2 that has a transparent

When you create raster items in Photoshop, you must have your data on a layer. Be certain to delete any Background from the Photoshop file. If you open a vector object it appears on a new layer. Again, delete the Background layer in Photoshop.
When you save the file as a Photoshop PDF document, you'll preserve the transparency. Import the object via a button or copy/paste the PDF file and the transparency is maintained.
