Whenever I attempt to open a PDF attachment in Outlook with Acrobat X I receive an error under Acrobat that "there was an error opening the document access denied". If I save the attachment to a folder it opens without a problem. This never happen before with older versions of Acrobat. Any ideas?

This error is caused by the Windows File Type Association. Emails are of file type EML. Adobe Reader only opens .PDF files and Outlook is requesting that it open .EML files.

See if this will fix it:
1. Select a PDF file in your email, right click and choose Open With
2. Scroll down the long list of Registered applications
3. Select Mail/News Browser (Outloook Express' name is MSIMN.EXE)
If it is not listed use the Browse button navigate to:
     C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe
4. Un-check the box marked:
"Always use this app with this type of file"
5. Now your Browser will open the EML file, thereby displaying the PDF.
6. If this works for this PDF, you can repeat the process and this time check:
"Always use this app with this type of file"

This will permanently register your Browser as the right application to display email attachments.

Thank you but in Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 there is no "open with" option when clicking on any pdf attachment. I can go into file associations but not sure if I should change that for Outlook.

Thanks
