We are receiving some unintelligible errors from Distiller 8.0 and was wondering if anyone has run into anything like this before and how I can go about correcting it, log from Distiller session is placed below for your reference. Acrobat version is actually 8.1.3, I did not see that option in the drop down menu at the end of the post.

This is received when trying to Distill a Word .doc document:
Adobe PDF Settings: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings/Press Quality.joboptions
%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: –œ‡°±· ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
Distill Time: 0 seconds (00:00:00)
**** End of Job ****

This is received when trying to Distill a .txt Text document:
Adobe PDF Settings: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings/Press Quality.joboptions
%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: Filesystem ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
Distill Time: 0 seconds (00:00:00)
**** End of Job ****

When trying to Distill a .rtf Rich Text Formatted file, it creates the PDF without error, but the newly created PDF is empty.

And finally when trying to Distill a .html file it returns this error:
Adobe PDF Settings: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings/Press Quality.joboptions
%%[ Error: syntaxerror; OffendingCommand: h ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
Distill Time: 0 seconds (00:00:00)
**** End of Job ****

Any assistance with getting this corrected would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Shaun

Distiller only knows how to process PostScript Files, PS. It has no idea about DOC, RTF, or TXT files.

If you are trying to create a PDF from a Word file, either use the PDF Maker or print to the Adobe PDF Printer.

Following is a simple PS file to create an image:
%!PS /problistcreate {mark /counter 0 def probabilities {128 mul round cvi{transforms counter get} repeat /counter counter 1 add def} forallcounttomark 128 sub neg dup 0 gt { [1 0 0 1 0 0] repeat} {pop} ifelse] /problist exch def} bind def /doit {problistcreate 1 1 20 {problist rand -24 bitshift get transform 2 copymoveto 0.001 10 rlineto} repeat newpath numdots {problist rand -24 bitshiftget transform 2 copy moveto 0.001 0 rlineto stroke} repeat} bind def% /// demo - remove before use. /// /numdots 50000 def % increase for denser image; decrease to print faster  /transforms [[0 0 0 .16 0 0][.2 .23 -.26 .22 0 1.6][-.15 .26 .28 .24 0 .44][.85 -.04 .04 .85 0 1.6]] def/probabilities [ .01 .07 .07 .85 ] def1 setlinecap0.02 setlinewidth200 300 translate30 dup scale 0 0.3 0 setrgbcolor  doit

Thanks for the quick response, that would explain the odd Offending Commands I'm receiving.

We do have one user who is Distilling form an .eps file and receiving the Offending Command of xshow, I couldn't find this one listed anywhere in the postscript troubleshooting guide, any ideas as to where I should look for this one?

Thanks,
Shaun
