Using "Optimize Scanned PDF" to batch deskew/despeckle

Hi folks - just came upon this board looking for some help, so here goes:

I need to find a way to setup a batch process which will run the Optimize Scanned PDF function on a number of PDFs. I'm using 8.0 Pro if it matters. I looked around the batch process menus, but couldn't find any way to run the function on more than one PDF at a time.

Is this possible? And if not, can anyone recommend a tool/method that will allow me to do this?

Thanks very much!

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.0, Windows

Hi,

This tread describes creating an

with Acrobat 8 Professional. One or many PDFs can be processed with it.

I've used it a number of times. Many PDFs just takes longer than a few PDFs.

Perhaps the "searchable image" OCR would help for despeckle.

Hi Daka630
What you linked to does not answer the user's question and so perhaps your post was not useful. The specific command we're looking for is "Optimize scanned PDF". Unfortunately this command is not available in Acro Pro 8. I have the same issue.

Ok.

However, Optimize Scan (as act_lit_tc) noted is available in Acrobat 8 Pro but only for one opened PDF of a scanned image at a time.

With the PDF open - select Document > Optimize Scanned PDFSo, Optimize Scanned PDF provides:
Compression (for Color/Grayscale or Monochrome) and
Filtering --
--| Deskew
--| Background Removal
--| Edge Shadow Removal
--| Despeckle
--| Descreen
--| Halo Removal

If the Sequence "Recognize Text uing OCR is used in a Batch Sequence one
can select Downsampling (to 600, 300, 150, or 72 ppi) which, by pixel remove, can provide a smaller file size.
If the "Searchable Image" option is used then the scanned image on a PDF page will -
--| Be Deskewed
and may be Despeckled to some extent.

Will Acrobat Help does not address Despeckle under the Searchable Image topic this may also be done to some extent when using Searchable Image.
Having had the opportunity to scan & ocr gigabytes of "stuff" back in the day; Despeckle seemed to be at play.
But, having never done any focused testing I'll be the first to say the Despeckle may not occur at all.

So, what I suggested to act_lit_tc does, in fact, provide at least a partial solution (e.g., a Deskew "batch").
