Warning messages when trying to edit PDF file

I received warning message when I tried to edit an old PDF file using Acrobat 9 Pro.

One TouchUp warning message says: "Since the original font is not available, a subsituted font for editing is use. Any changes to the text of the original font will place a new font dependency upon the document."

The other TouchUp warning message says: "The acquired editing font has fewer characters than the font used within the document. Many characters may be unavailable."

What do I have to do to edit my PDF file while heeding the warning messages, and what do the messages mean?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.0, Windows

Thank you for replying. How do I distill a PDF?

I tried, but I received this error:

"Warning: Distiller will not process .Log, .PDF, or .JDF file extensions"

What should I do now?

You have to save your PDF to a .ps extension. Then double click on that file or open acrobat distiller and select the file.
Done. I opened the .ps file using Distiller, which for some reason then opened the PDF in Reader.

How can I edit the file from Reader? Don't I need Acrobat for this?

You need to use Acrobat not Reader.
Cool. Sorry for all the questions. I'm learning as I go.

Then I should open the .ps file using Acrobat, correct?
