Hi

someone has sent me a plan of a theatre. its a pdf i would like to use the measure tool to measure distances on the plan. Acrobat says that i must have document right enabled to use the measuring tool enabled.

(The Acrobat built in help system doesn't really have any content and the website links to here....sometime s I wish everyone at Adobe was replaced by programmers who actually had to use some of the shit they pump out, rather than just make it)

regards

Hi brunomartelli,

To use the measuring tool in the free Adobe Reader the author needs to Rights Enable the PDF for Comment and Review. If I remember correctly these rights could be applied in Acrobat Professional back to version 7. Other rights such as enabling local save were added in Acrobat 8 Pro, and now in Acrobat 9 Standard and Professional.

You will need to contact the author and ask them to apply the rights- hopefully they own a version of Acrobat Pro or Standard that has that feature.

Hope this helps,

Dimitri
