What's the trick to doing a index that utilizes keywords?

I have tried using both Acrobat 8 pro and 9 pro to accomplish this. Neither ones works.

I have tried creating a full text index that with catalog, referencing keywords I also already have applied to the document. (I did this here: New Index Definition dialog box > Options > XMP fields). However, I cannot get any of the keywords to be referenced in the catalog. Is there a special trick to get the catalog to use keywords?

Have any of you had success getting the index to tap into the keywords (or any other XMP metadata)? How did you do it?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.1.1, Windows

Hi Documentgeek,

I am not sure if you WANT to really do this the hard way, but perhaps this might help you get around just how ugly this can be when you try to do this manually.

Now, i created the index files using a non-adobe application named ELAN Capture (this was for w scan / data scrape / search index projects where a full text search would be very prohibitive...)

but perhaps there are some details that might help you.

Can this be accomplished using Acrobat? It seems like one should be able to, but I cannot get it to work.
