Which version?

I have just been using the Acrobat 8 Pro 30 day trial, to extract blocks of pages from a very large pdf file and creating smaller parts (the Extract Pages... option).
The company I work for now want to buy a licensed copy but dont want to shell out for Pro unless we have to.
Can you tell me if this feature is in Acrobat Elements and Standard as well.

This may seem like a dumb question but I have only used the Reader in the past.

Also, do any of you uk people have a rough ballpark figure of the prices? I saw that Pro was about 400 quid.

Thank you

With the Adobe Reader Software you can copy text and paste the copied text in MS Word. You can also save PDF files to Text from Adobe Reader. To gain more formatting control and export to RTF and .doc files you need Acrobat. Standard offers more export options than Reader, however with the small price difference between Standard and Pro, you might be best served by purchasing Pro if you think you'll eventually need many of the Pro features.

Elements won't help you.

I'd check on the prices in the UK. The US price for Acrobat Pro is $449. The Standard price is $299. It's a $149 US difference between Standard and Pro.

Cheers but remember we get ripped off over here in the uk. IT is £460 (around $800) for Pro and £260 for Standard as far as I can see.
All I need to do is split a large pdf file into parts of less than 100Mb each. It is for a contracting project that will run to the end of the year.
I wont need a single other feature.
So I'm guessing Standard wil be ok for that because you have to buy a minimum of 100 licenses for Elements I think.

If you are working with a Windows Platform, take a look at "PDF reDirect" at http://www.exp-systems.com/.

It works like a print driver. You can open the pdf in reader and then print it through "PDF reDirect" selecting only the pages you want. The result is a new PDF with only the pages your want.
