Windows Desktop Search

I recently switched from using Copernic to using Windows Desktop Search and I cannot get WDS to index PDF files. I'm not sure it was necessary, but I downloaded and installed the appropriate IFilter; however, the PDF file type check-box remains greyed-out under advanced options/file types in WDS. I am using Acrobat 8 Standard with XP Pro. Any suggestions?

re: downloading & installing the iFilter; starting with Acrobat and Reader 7.05, iFilter functionality was/is bundled within the products.http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2611

The introductory paragraph states:

Quote:
IMPORTANT NOTE: Starting with Acrobat and Reader 7.0.5, iFilter functionality is now bundled within the Acrobat and Reader products. Improvements to iFilter in Acrobat and Reader 8 include support for Vista and Windows Desktop Search, as well as improved performance and stability. It is recommended that you update your copy of Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader in order to get the most current iFilter functionality, rather than download and install the stand-alone iFilter plug-in.
