Working with 9.1 During OCR

Using Acrobat 9.1, if I am working with two PDF files in Acrobat and OCR one of them, I can't do any work with the other until the OCR is complete. Is there any way around this? Presently, OCRing lengthy documents makes my computer effectively useless.

Thanks for your help!

The only way I know to do that, is to install a virtual machine (VM) on your computer, where you use A9 in a separate operating system like a 2nd Windows XP.

Thanks: that's what I was afraid of.

Frankly, that's a terrible design choice by Adobe. I guess I'm off to make a feature request.

Again, thanks for your help.

two suggestions:
1 - use a second PC to perform the lenghty OCR
2 - do the OCR operation (on one or more files) via a batch command; excute the batch command when you leave your desk for the day (for whatever number of hours). See Acrobat help and search on "batch" for information.
