Problems creating forms

At our company we have some PDF forms that are populated in a Java application, then presented to the user to either save or print. There are 4 separate PDF forms (pages 1 thru 4) that are populated and presented in order, and final results appear as one document.

We had to make a couple changes to one of the forms to accomodate a new field name, and some field sizes because some new data was being truncated.

I had Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard installed on my machine to make these changes. The application will populate the forms successfully, but when internet explorer attempts to open the finished PDF file, the IE/Adobe browser crashes.

One thing I noticed was the actual size of the PDF changed from 385 KB to 148 KB.

Is there a procedure or step I may have missed in editing or saving this PDF file? Should it have been linked in with the other PDF files somehow? Any direction here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin

Update: We are using iText to manipulate the PDF forms, and the file I created using Adobe Acrobat is missing the 'trailer' entry. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks
