Adding a page on demand

I am digitizing a report which consists of a cover page and narrative page. I would like to have a button at the bottom of the narrative page that, if needed, would open an additional narrative page within the original report and when the report is completed it would be saved within this report. I cannot seem to configure a button to do this. I can configure the button to open the narrative page pdf file but can't open it witin the original. Can this be done?

There is a way to do this, it's called Page Templates and you can read about it in the Acrobat JavaScript Reference. However, it will only work in Acrobat Pro/Std. To work in Reader the PDF would need special Rights Enabling.

Another technique is to make the PDF with LiveCycle Designer. This tool creates dynamic forms, i.e., forms with fields that grow and multiply like rabits. A LiveCycle form can add pages while running on Reader, something a traditional AcroForm can't do. Unfortunately these PDFs have the same Reader restrictions as ordinary PDFs, they can't be saved without special Rights enabling.

Hope this helps,
