Auto Update package contents?

We have 250 individual pdf files. Each of these files are used throughout 25 multi-page pdf documents. Every time we change one of the individual files, we have to manually update that file if it is used in any of the 25 multi-page files. Can Acrobat 8 "automatically" update a package based on a change to an enclosed file? Or, can it be done some other way? Or with some other product? Thanks
