Automating conversion for Greyscale to Black and white

How can I convert a greyscale PDF to a black and white PDF, using an automated process (like batch processing)?

This is a question for the "Color and Management" category.

I don't know for sure, but I don't think you can do this from Acrobat. This conversion requires some intelligence. such as the dividing line for what's black and what's white.
