Can the Navigation Panel Buttons be hidden with JavaScript?

When working with the Acrobat 8 viewer through the .OCX/ActiveX interface, is it possible using JavaScript to hide the (left) navigation panel buttons (pages, search, help, etc...). These buttons are a new addition to Reader 8 and they are creating an undesirable UI effect to a web application I have that's making use of the .OCX Viewer interface.

Try this. Click File, Properties, Initial View, and make the necessary changes for the Navigation Tab in your PDF file.
