Formatting a text field

I have a phone number field that users can change the number on in
Reader. But I need to have it formatted with periods between instead of
dashes (i.e. 1.800.000.0000).

What script do I use for this? Also is it possible to pop up a message saying it needs to be typed this way if they do it in correctly?

Have you tried the 'Arbitrary Mask' on the 'Special' Format?

9.999.999.9999

You do not need JavaScript, you open the filed's properties, select the 'Format' tab, for the 'Select Format category:' select 'Special', then select (highlight) the 'arbitrary mask' option and an entry field will appear. You can type the mask into that field and click the 'Close' button to apply the mask.

You can also search the 'Help' file for 'Arbitrary Mask'.
