Free Reader and ODBC database

I am trying to use Livecycle Designer 8.0 to create a form for users with Reader 8.1. The form will populate some fields from an ODBC database connection and the users will populate the rest of the fields. The field data will then be saved back to the ODBC database. I have it working in Acrobat Professional, but not in the free reader. Is it possible or have I been lead astray? Thank you. Dale

The ODBC (for LiveCycle PDFs) will only work in Reader if the PDF has been rights enbled for it. So yes, you've been led astray. This restriction is not very well documented, if at all. I made the same mistake. And this is not the same enabling that is provided by Acrobat Pro 8.0. You need the full Rights Enabling Server.
