Interact with Adobe Reader via JavaScript to highlight fields

Hello!

I have a PDF document running in my browser using the Adobe Reader 9 plug-in.

I would like to be able to interact with the plugin by clicking a link in my HTML page that highlights a form field in the PDF inside the plug-in based on the form field name.

Is this possible? I've seen that there is an ExternalInterface for AS3 but can it be done with JavaScript?

Thanks in advance.

Merritt

There is no feature in Acrobat for highlighting a specific form field. Form field highlighting has to be done with JavaScript code that changes the appearance properties of the field. So with a little work it can be done, and it can be done from an HTML page that displays the PDF in an "Object" tab. You'll find an example of HTML JavaScript to PDF JavaScript communication here. Scroll down to the "IE Browser/Acrobat intercommunication" entry.
