Placement of an fdf on a page

I have created an fdf that includes incremental changes. When I merge this fdf with a pdf it places the fields back exactly where they were on the original pdf. What I need to do it be able to place the fdf to a different location on the page. Is there a way to place an fdf with incremental changes in a different position than it was when it was created?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What type of changes to the PDF does the FDF contain, exactly?

The FDF contains fields and it contents and buttons and its icon data.

So it sounds as though you want certain fields (text fields, button fields) to be moved, right?

There is not convenient a way to do that. It would be possible to modify the FDF given the proper tools, but you can't do it with the FDF Toolkit, for example.

A workaround that you might consider is moving the fields just prior to submitting, and move them back after submitting, though I don't recall offhand which versions of Reader would support this...

Actually George, I am not moving the fields, I am actually "creating" the fields. I will try to explain this better.
1) The user selects a button which then creates a set of fields and field values.
2) What I want to do then, is to be able to save those fields and place them back into another pdf but in a different position. I was thinking that and fdf would work nicely as I could import all of the fileds in one action.
Thanks for you help,
Dave

Applying appended saves to a different PDF than the one from which it was obtained would only work by dumb luck. Any appended saves should only be applied to the original PDF.

You could try passing the information about the newly created fields as the value of a (hidden) text field, and use that information to recreate them. Whether this is feasible would depend on your intended workflow.
