Show Attachments by Default

Is there a way to set "Show Attachments by Default" in a batch of PDFs so every time a PDF is opened by any end user, the attachments, if any, are automatically displayed?

I do not want the end user to go looking for the paperclip icon. They need to know as soon as they open the PDF that an attachment exists.

Thanks :)

Hi Rondi,

You can set the intial view so the attachments panel is expanded when the PDF is opened. Unfortunately, Adobe did not add this command to the Batch Process sequences included with Acrobat, and JavaScript can't set the intial view parameters directly. So, you will need to set this for each document individually (File -> Properties, under the Initial View tab select "Attachments Panel and Page" in the Navigation Tab text entry field.)Hope this helps,

I have 14,000+ emails so manually making this change is out of the question.

Ok. How? I have Acrobat 8 Pro. I've looked in the batch processing commands. What do you have in mind?

What's odd is that HELP in Acrobat 8 Pro states, "If you open a PDF that has one or more attached files, the Attachments panel automatically opens, listing the attached files..."

This is true, if I open a PDF with an attachment, the Attachments panel automatically opens. However, if I created my PDF from an email in Outlook that had an attachment, the Attachments panel does not automatically open.

I used a short javascript to set the default for the Attachments Panel to always open.
