Text additions using Headers and Footers in Acrobat

I download lots of academic journals in pdf format and find it useful to use the Headers feature of Acrobat to put a meaningful title on each page of the article and also a page count like 1/n (corresponding to the real pages and not the journal pages). It is very tedious to put the latter in every time on each separate pdf. Is there any easy way to automate the process?
