text fields and embedded tabs

I have created a very large text field (80 x 40) using both Acrobat 5.0 & 7.0. When I try and fill the field in, Adobe seems to "help" me by ocassionally inserting tabs. I've checked my code and the text I'm sending to the form and there are no imbeded tabs. if I add or remove a few characters, the tabs go away.

Is there some setting that I'm missing that is controling this?

Acrobat does not randomly insert characters. It does break text on white space for wrapping. Are you sure that there are no tabs embedded in your text. Also it's possible that there are other special characters in the text that Acrobat is converting to a tab. These things aren't always visually obvious. You might consider using a regular expression to search for non-printable characters.
