Word to PDF with links, update PRINTDATE field code

I need to find a way to Convert from Word 2003 to pdf using Adobe 6 Standard, preserve links (just cross-references and TOC within the document) AND have the "PRINTDATE" field code update in the Word Document match the PDF. I can print to PDF, which updates the PRINTDATE field, but loses the links. I have written a macro to print the current page and then PDF, but the times never exactly match (one minute apart) Can anyone help? Thanks!

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 6.0.3, Windows

Hi missantarctica5,

Have you tried using the PDFMaker macro in Word 2003? The macro preserves the cross-references and links for you and since it is calling the Adobe PDF printer it also places the print date within the document.

Hope this helps,
Lori

The answer that PDFmaker macro is a cure all does not work. It does preserve TOC links, but any other links in a word document do not. Adobe has to come up with a real answer as many of us depend on this functionality.

I would also like a good (fast and easy) way to link documents within a large PDF package via the type of editable internal document links that Word allows.

Hi, I also would like a real answer that works for these questions.
I use Office 2007 with the PDF publishing tool. I link other Word documents from the document with hyperlinks. When publishing Word documents to PDF format the links are preserved, but when clicking on them only a blank webpage is opened and not the directed word.docx file.

What is the answer for linking other MS Office documents to a PDF file?

You may need to set the "Conversion Settings" for the PDF Maker macro. You can select to add links, convert Word Bookmarks, Structures (selectable levels), or Styles to bookmarks. By using Word's "Print Field" I have been able to add hypertext bookmark links to other PDFs.
