Stamping or Bates Numbering

I've got a series of pages with the following Bates number:

MM/DD/YY - 000284(a).

I would like to know if its possible to "increment" the alphabetic character while keeping the number (000284) the same.

So, the sequence would look like:

MM/DD/YY - 000284(a)
MM/DD/YY - 000284(b)
MM/DD/YY - 000284(c), and so on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

How was this number added? If it's a form field then you could edit its contents directly, but if it's a watermark or just a part of the running text of the document then you need to cover the original numbers before applying the new ones.
And yes, it's possible to do this, with a bit of scripting knowledge.

It was hard coded as a prefix in eCopy ShareScan 4.2.0.39k. In eCopy Desktop 9.2, I ended up copying to the other pages (15 total luckily) and manually changing the alpha character.

Thanks for your response.
