I am trying to convert some older 2D AutoCAD files to PDF's and PDF/E's. I am using both AutoCAD 2010 and Acrobat X Pro, but having trouble making the conversion while keeping the original attributes such as color and font, etc. I was wondering if anyone knew why this is happening.

I have tried the simple PDF maker way and plotting the file to a PDF. No dice.

Thanks!

Can you change your conversion settings to High Quality Print? (Adobe PDF > Change Conversion Settings in AutoCAD) The Standard settings may not store all your fonts and applies a color profile of sRGB, that may change your output color).

Thanks for your response Kelly.

I have tried to change the conversion settings in both AutoCAD and Acrobat and I am still unable to reproduce the .dwg file in color. In AutoCAD I have tried the simple Acrobat drop down 'Create PDF' and the 'Plot' option which gives you more control over the conversion, but have not gotten the result desired.

In Acrobat, the only 'settings' I know how to change are under 'Edit>Preferences>Convert to PDF>AutoDesk AutoCAD' and there I can't do anything with color or High Quality Print. Is there something I'm not seeing/doing?

Thanks again for your help.

Greg,

Do you not have an Adobe PDF menu in AutoCAD? That is where you find the PDF Settings. Also, you may need to enable all your layers in the PDF, to get everything included. You can see the steps here:

Thanks for all your help Kelly.

I figured out the issue. In AutoCAD when I was trying to plot to PDF, I went to "Page Setup Manager" and under "Pen Assignments" 'monochrome' was listed as the setting. and I needed to change it to 'None'

Finally got color in my PDF.

Thanks again!
