After downloading 8.1 patch, I cannot reate a PDF from Scanner anymore (it worked fine with Acrobat 8).
This is the error message that appears -Adobe Acrobat 8.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience -and then it closes the program.

Thank you in advance for someone’s quick help, Regula

You might try visiting your scanner developer's Web site to see if an upgrade is available for download. If not, try repairing the installation. If that doesn't work, do a complete deinstall of Acrobat 8, reinstall, and run the 8.1 patch.

Hey all can you give me a little more info, can you tell me, your operating system, your scanner type, the scanner software version. And please describe a little more detail on how you are getting this error. I'm sorry, but this helps me do a better job in debugging the problems.

Hi Regula,

Do you have 1-Click Answers installed by chance or any other startup items running in your system tray? Or the Google Desktop installed?

Thank you for the tip. Repair did not help, I reinstalled Adobe Acrobat 8, and if not absolutely necessary, I will not download 8.1.

Hi Ana,
No, I do not have 1-Click Answers, or Google Desktop installed.

This seems to be similar to my problem - in my case it crashes when I try to use a drop down menu (ie. choosing to add extra pages to an existing pdf).
I will also go back to version 8 with no update.
Where is Adobe in all this ?????
