Acrobat 8 Pro doesn't scan to PDF after 8.1.1 patch

I am running Vista x86 and scanning using my Cannon MP830, used to work fine. After installing the 8.1.1 patch, the scanner starts and then just stops after going about half way. How do I fix this patch error without reinstalling from scratch?

If you log in as Administrator do you have any problems scanning? If not, try creating a new user account to see if it corrects the problem.
