We use a networked Ricoh copier/printer/fax/scanner to create PDF files using Acrobat 7. This has worked perfectly for years, but upon upgrading to Acrobat 9 we get a Data Execution Prevention warning when attempting to scan. The error appears directly after choosing Create > PDF from Scanner > Color/Grayscale/Black & White Document.
The Ricoh copier is a 3224C and we're using the latest Network TWAIN driver downloaded from Ricoh's Web site. The operating system is Windows XP SP3 with all updates.
Here is the full text of the error message:
Data Execution Prevention - Microsoft Windows
Name: Adobe Acrobat 9.2
Publisher: Adobe Systems Incorporated
"Data Execution Prevention helps protect against damage from viruses and other security threats. What should I do?"
Which sometimes leads to the following error message:
Adobe Acrobat 9.2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Any help much appreciated!
Ever find a solution?
I even added Acrobat 9.2 Pro as an exception in the DEP list, to no avail.
I know this is an Adobe problem because I can scan just fine using other applications (like Word).
