Acrobat Standard 8.1 changes font for pdf from Outlook

When I create a pdf from Outlook 2003 using the create icon the original fonts default to 12 pt Arial in the pdf. If I repeat the job using the pdf printer it is reproduced correctly - page layout and fonts are all OK.

I am trying to package large numbers of emails to pdf and using the create icon does exactly what I want except that the page layouts are changed, because of the font size change. The end result is a document that simply doesn't look like the originals!

Conversion of documents from Word or Excel using the create icons are reproduced correctly, it's just from Outlook that is wrong.

Any ideas please?

Hi Pomeroy,

I asked the same question a few days ago. It was answered on jan. 22 by Abhigyan. See http://www.acrobatusers.com/forums/aucbb/viewtopic.php?pid=25496#p25496

Hi Ed

Yes, I read that before I posted, but I couldn't work out how to make the changes. maybe Standard has less buttons than Pro??

A few words on where to find the buttons could get me out of trouble.

Many thanks

I have the Pro version. I don't know if the Standard version differs.

In Acrobat go Make PDF|from webpage(Shft-ctrl-O), then Settings (button right corner below), then on the tab General (left tab) change settings for HTML. Then go to the tab Fonts and coding (right tab) and experiment. I changed fontsize to 11 and got a much better result.

After clicking several OK's convert a webpage to make the changes take effect.

Good luck!

Many thanks. I've tried all that and spent hours fiddling with the settings but no real change. The original fonts (Arial, Times roman) in the emails are all replaced by a big ugly Arial font with less words per line and therefore the whole page looks wrong.

The same thing happens if I try to make a pdf archive. (makes sense I guess, it's probably the same process)

I also have tried making pdf's of web pages. The resulting pdf is generally missing chunks of the information and the page is of no real value.

I read that the email converter actually uses the same settings as html web pages. Could there be something wrong in my settings there or does it simply not do the job properly?

Again thanks for your help, it's really frustrating to buy an expensive piece of software and then find things don't quite work the way that the brochure suggests!
