Acrobat version compatibility

I do a newsletter in InDesign and email it to club members as a pdf. One of the members is unable to open the pdf. I am using Acrobat 9 pro on a Mac, she has Acrobat 5 and apparently can't upgrade to Acrobat 9 because she is running Windows 98. Is that the problem? Is there a solution? Thanks for your help.

You can optimize or perform a Save As through which you can set the compatability to a prior PDF version.
