Acrobat X does not support TWAIN?

We have several Konica Minolta MFCs. (C280,C452,C552), Konica has a TWAIN driver that allows you to scan directly from the flatbed or ADF into a program.

This works for ALL programs except Acrobat X. Works for Acrobat 8, works for Acrobat 9.

This is the error I get when selecting the scanner. Acrobat has no way of changing any settings until after you pick the scanner.

I have already installed the latest print and scan drivers from Konica's site.

Also I have found that with Acrobat 8 and 9 when you select a scanner and change settings it updates the registry in the following location. Acrobat X does not make it to this point and the registry is still blank.

If you open the registry to:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\10.0\Scan]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\10.0\Scan\cScannerValues]

Interestingly if you import the settings from version 9 into the version 10.0 registry it changes the error message that you get.

I can scan using all programs except Acrobat X so please don't even bother to suggest its a driver/TWAIN issue.

What changed from Version 9 to X that is causing this TWAIN issue?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 10.0.1, Windows

Also forgot to mention that this happens on 3 different computers, one had a clean install of the most current Konica TWAIN driver and Acrobat X.

All of the test machines were XP Pro SP3.

Anyone? Thoughts comments, can I use my Acrobat X license to install Acrobat 8?

Absolutely not, for better or worse! License codes are for a single release of a single product.

This is a user community site - all customer account and refund requests MUST be made via the Adobe website and their customer support desk.

Installation support tickets are provided without charge. If a non-installation ticket results in a bug report, the fee for the ticket will be waived, otherwise there is a small charge.

In reply to your original query, TWAIN is supported in Acrobat X and works fine for most people - but I don't have a Konica device to test against so there may well be an issue with that specific hardware driver.

Sarcasm much? Driver works for Acrobat Pro 8 and 9. Also works for Microsoft Office 2007 and other image scanning utilities.

Here is the driver page for the Konica MFCs
http://onyxftp.mykonicaminolta.com/download/SearchResults.aspx?productid=1190

Konica has two types of TWAIN drivers, real time scanning or downloading from images stored on the copiers hard drive. We do not use the hard drive scanning fuction.

I have this driver installed.

They have a new driver released on 2-28-11 that has the comment "Special for Adobe Acrobat support"

After installing this update I can now select the HDD Twain driver without errors, but when I try to scan, and when the Konica interface should appear I get a new error, Unrecoverable operation has occured.

Finally got a call back from the support number. Went through the usual tech support process. Had "Ray" remote into my computer and confirm that it is a compatibility issue between Acrobat X and the Konica Drivers. The same drivers work on the same machine with Acrobat 8 and 9 and ALL other TWAIN capable scanners. So while Adobe support can technically say it could be a problem with a driver, its just finger pointing.

I hope that this helps someone, somewhere...
