Adobe portfolio

I'm planning on using Adobe Portfolio as a "sharepoint"/intranet page to store documents on a network. My understanding of Portfolio is limited and wondering if people can share their knowledge...

(1) Can users with only Adobe Reader (quite old versions) still use Adobe Portfolio?
(2) Can I (as the main user) restrict people from deleting or uploading files in the portfolio?

Thanks
Catherine

Portfolio's are Just files embedded in a PDF with a fancy UI. The Fancy UI bit is Flash, and was added to Acrobat in version 9. Earlier versions will not show the UI, but they will show an ordinary PDF with embedded files. On the desktop, files can only be added or deleted to/from a portfolio if the user has Acrobat Professional/Standard, or if the Portfolio PDF has been enabled with Reader Rights for embedding. Embedding Rights cannot be applied with Acrobat, they can only be applied with one of the LiveCycle ES servers. You can restrict access to a PDF, with pretty good granularity, through Policy Server, another LiveCycle ES server.

If you are talking about manipulating the PDF on the server side it's a different story. You'll need some kind of PDF manipulation tool. There are plenty out there. From free libraries to full blown servers. What you use depends on how much money, time, and skills you have availible.
