We are an consulting engineering office using Autocad 2008 and creating pdf files Via Adobe acrobat 5.0.5 using the distiller System printer within autocad, and have done so for many years, we have suddenly noticed that on an indiscremanent no of files, i.e. different jobs, that some of our information seems to be missing from the file. when we attempt to regenerate the pdf from the same drg file everything is fine. Base operating system is Win XP Sp2

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 5.0.5, Windows

OK - I'm going to call you on this one - Autocad 2008 is the current product. I don't think you have been using it for "many years".

As for the version of Acrobat - I would seriously recommend upgrading to A8-3D. The integration between Autocad and Acrobat alone will be worth the cost in time and effort.

I know 2008 is current, I meant we have been creating PDF's via the system printer for many years i.e previous versions of Autocad as we have been running with Autocad for about 18 years and adopted creating pdf's many years ago as we were following demands of our clients to transmit electronic media with out actually handing over the cad drawing, Thats where Adobe steps in.
as to your solution, will this rectify the problem, time and effort really isn't an issue as autocad has a publishing component built into it, so producing the files is no problem. producing them with all the information on the other hand is another story.
thanks again for your response

Maxi,

We are a consulting engineering firm (as well) and are experiencing similiar problems with .pdf plots missing random information. Previously we were using older versions of AutoCAD (2000i) and experienced no ill effects. We are now using AutoCAD 2008 and Jaws Pdf Creator V4.1, and I have seen other firms in other forums mentioning this same issue. Other firms are using various pdf software products. The common link appears to be AutoCAD 2008. I am just curious if your firm has found a solution to the issue, as we are searching for a solution as well.

I am looking for the same answers. I am using Adobe 7 Pro and Acad 2008. We are able to convert the dwg to pdf when the drawing has only line work, but when I have an image in the background, I only get a partial pdf. I was wondering if there was a size limit for the drawing? I did notice that this was plotting to a 24x36 papersize. If I plotted to a 11x17, dwg to pdf worked just fine. Any suggestions would be helpful. thanks.
