Automate Batch PDF from multiple files

I am working with a few thousand JPG images all grouped by file name into a few hundred sets of images. I am looking for a way to combine these images into PDFs through some sort of automation set up. Ideally, what I would like to do is to point Acrobat or my mac's Automator at the files and have them combined into PDFs that would then be saved by the common file name of the images. Any advice? Thanks

Hi,

you must choose your gun: Acrobat OR Automator, since it's very difficult to combine both.

Automator is very user friendly, Acrobat Batch tool isn't very user friendly but sometimes more efficient…

I am a little familiar with both and am happy to choose which ever will get the job done. I sort of imagined that I might have to run Automator to get things sorted in a way that Acrobat Batch could then handle and perhaps go back and forth between the two to complete the task.

You will probably need Acrobat for fine tuning (initial view, transitions, etc.), this is the only difference.

So, since Automator is 64 bits Cocoa native it should be faster than Acrobat… (waiting Acrobat 10).
