Autosave not working with Create PDF from Scanner

I was scanning a set of documents to Adobe Acrobat X Pro (V10.1.1.33), and suddenly Acrobat hanged and requested to be closed. Windows Even Viewer says App Crash (Acrobat.dll)

Upon reopening no Autosave file was opened, and I can't find any such files on my PC, including in the folder where previous doc scans were saved during the same session. I checked Prefs, and Autosave is set by default to 5 min. But it seems to never save anything anyway. After the 1st crash Acrobat keeps crashing on scanning docs, more so, when a multipage scanned document is manually saved, closed, and then reopened later to add more scanned pages to it. I noticed, it crashes when trying to finally optimize the whole doc at the end of adding a scanned page.

Questions:

- in what folder Autosave files are supposed to be saved? How to find that folder address (in Registry or anywhere)?

- how to make Autosave work, or verify that it does work as it should?

What version of Windows are you using?

I'm not a newbie to forums, and usually answer questions before asking mine. Still can answer your question: Win 7 64-bit SP1 with all current updates.

Why Acrobat devs try to hide key folder locations, offering neither location selection, no current location info to a user (save, open, autosave, etc.)?

Try looking in C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp for the files.

You might also try changing the Data Transfer Method when scanning. This is located under the Scanner Options dialog.

I use Native Mode. Most of the time it works OK when scanning multipage docs. As I said, the crash always occurs, when after saving and closing a multipage optimized pdf, I reopen it again and continue to scan more pages to it. If the doc is saved, but not closed, adding new scans works OK. In fact, I have to manually Save the doc after scanning every 10 pages, since Autosave doesn't appear to work (no disk activity ever - as reflected by system tools - associated with saving Acrobat files), and it may crash anytime.

As to the Temp folder, the only recent file is A9RCAED.tmp, and Acrobat can't open it. Should I try to open it after the original file (previously saved pdf version) is open? There are few empty folders though, like Acrobat Distiller 10, WPDNSE, lilo.3244, Preflight Acrobat 10, etc. What extension Autosave files are supposed to have, and in which folder inside the Temp they are supposed to be saved?
