Cannot Create a PDF from CAD Drawings

Hi Everyone,

One of my users has been having a strange problem. When he right clicks on a CAD drawing and clicks on convert to PDF he after a little while he gets an PDF Maker is unavailable error. He is using Acrobat 8.0 Standard (he did have it updated to 8.1.2 before a reinstall).
I've reinstalled the application for him and that didn't help. I can create PDF files with no problems from Office applications. I can create PDF files with no problems from within CAD. I can create them from right clicking on non-CAD files and selecting create a PDF. So it seems the only thing we can't do is create the PDF from a CAD file.
The user said that he was able to do it that way before and it just stopped working one day.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I havent been able to find any information about whats going on.

Thanks in advance,
-Phil

Hi Phil,

Some more information would help in getting answers to your question:
- what's the CAD format are you trying to convert - dwg?
- do you have the corresponding application installed for the CAD format. if so, which one

Hi Abhigyan,

Yes the files are .dwg and the user has AutoCAD 2008 LT installed on his machine.

Hi Phil,

Conversion of AutoCAD drawings are supported in Acrobat Professional variant (and not in Standard). You might want to try the trial version of Acrobat Pro and see if that works for you.

With Acrobat Standard, your options are limited to trying Print to Adobe PDF printer from AutoCAD LT.
