Change default scan to letter size

How do I set the scan document page size to letter as the default? I have to keep selecting it from the page size menu every time I scan a document (the top of the list is 8 1/2 x 14 I think).

TIA

Hi FUBARinSFO,

Some scanners may not report "supported sizes" to Acrobat when "Hide Scanner's Native Interface" is selected in "Scanner Options" inside Acrobat 8. When this happens switch the "User Interface" option to "Show Scanner's Native Interface" and select the page size from scanner application.

Hope this helps,
Lori

Testing it again, AA8 doesn't actually let me use the "Hide Scanner's Native Interface" but switches on creation to "Show Scanner's Native Interface" mode with only an "OK" button, no choice. Perhaps this choice is available elsewhere.

Now under Scanner Options both User Interface and Page Size are grayed out, for either of the Data Transfer Mode settings (Native or Memory).

Do you have any idea as to how to get this trimmed automatically to letter-size after the scan, if I can't get a letter-size scan in the first place?

Thank you for your help.

Further to my post just a few moments ago, I discovered that there are two devices available to use as scanner devices here: WIA-SHARP AL-1551CS and Sharp Personal MFP Series.

The WIA-SHARP AL-1551CS appears to be a raw scanner mode, with no options other than to receive what it is given from the device. The Sharp Personal MFP Series does have some scanner options, among them Paper Size if "Hide Scanner's Native Interface" option for User Interface is chosen. This is the opposite of the automatic selection when you choose the wizard to scan, as suggested on startup.

It appears I do now have the ability to set the page size to letter for successive scans, if I set the scanning to "Hide Scanner's Native Interface" and use the Sharp Personal MFP Series scanner. Thank you for your help in prompting me to resolve this problem.
