Color fills printing black in Excel + AutoCAD...

I am having problems with Acrobat 8 pro. When I create a .pdf from Excel or AutoCAD using the printer driver, any areas filled with color are printing out solid black. There is no "print color as black" button on the print dialog out of Excel or AutoCAD, so I am not sure why this is happening. Also, some of out older .pdfs created in Acrobat 6 standard and 7 pro view this way in 8 pro., but they were fine when viewed in 6 or 7. Any help appreciated!!

Sounds like you are printing incorrectly. For both Excel and AutoCAD, there is a "Create Adobe PDF" button in their toolbars - use that INSTEAD of printing.

Thanks for your response.

We like printing out of AutoCAD vs. using the toolbar button so that we get the time and date stamp that AutoCAD adds to the corner of the plots. But, out of curiosity I tried using the button in both Excel and AutoCAD, and I get the same result. There are black areas where my colors are supposed to be.

Any solution to the embedded excel object in Word 2007 prints solid black??? I have updated to version 8.1.2 and never had a problem before the last update. In fact, my document has two embedded excel sheets and one of them prints just fine. I have tried the pdf macro button and just using the print driver and same result either way.

I found a work around, if that is what we should call it. I had originally created the word file using word 2007 with embedded excel 2007 documents, but at some point saved it with 2003 compatibility. Saving the file back to the 2007 version did not fix the problem; however, creating the fresh file from scratch did. So something about keeping 2003 compatibility caused my problem, because I didn't start having problems until then, and I hope this helps others because there is literally no good information out there about this problem.
