How can I keep my table of contents links when I create a PDF in Word 2004 for Mac? I have searched and searched for a command to convert these links but have not found anything in Word or Acrobat. HELP!

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8, Macintosh

There are a couple steps needed to ensure that your TOC in MSWord is converted to hypertext links in the resulting PDF.

Here is a quick outline:

1) Open document in MSWord 2004 for Mac
2) Open the PDFMaker Macro (under the AdobePDF menu)
3) Select the "Word" tab
4) Click on the " Convert cross-reference and table of contents to links"
5) Click on the CreatePDF icon

When the PDF is create, Acrobat will automatically generate the links within the TOC.

Hi,

I suspect Mark was using a Windows computer to test this. The Word macros to create PDF cannot convert TOC to linked elements in a PDF. Basically, the PDF maker macros are PDF print buttons on the Mac OS.

The text of the help file for the PDF maker on the Mac doesn't mention that you can convert TOC or any special Word features. Reference to doing so only apply to Windows.

There isn't one that I am aware of.

I can't find PDFMaker Macro as my AdobePDF menu -- the two-icon acrobat toolbar that opens up with Word taking up an entire menu bar line arghh -- only allows access to properties and has no tabs. there is no specific AdobePDF Macro on the main menu. Where should I be looking? Microsoft Help is, of course, no help at all. Try searching on "PDF". Any help appreciated.

Despite the above advice, which is echoed in the online Acrobat documentation, there is no way to either follow the directions or save cross-reference and table of contents links using Adobe products with Word on the Mac. This is a real pain.

Is there an after market plug in that will allow me to keep my hyperlinks when converting my Mac OS X Word document into a PDF?
