Crashing while scanning to PDF

While trying to scan hard copy documents to PDF, Adobe completely stops working and shuts down in the middle of a scanning job. File did not save anywhere and no error message to help find out what went wrong.

Version using is 8.1.3 Standard- I updated it to 8.1.5 with hopes that whatever was crashing would fix it but--it was not the case. I also looked at error logs but no help there it just says Application Hang.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 8.1.5, Windows

What Windows OS are you using? Also, try changing the Data Transfer Mode (under the Scanner Options button in the Acrobat Scan dialog) from Native Mode to Memory Mode. If this doesn't correct the problem, here are some additional Troubleshooting Tips for Acrobat 8.

I have the same issue (apologies for cross posting) with Win 7 32 bit (newly installed on a new laptop) and Acrobat Pro 9.2. I tried all the stuff in Troubleshooting Tips plus reinstalled. Xerox Documate 510 works fine with all other programs I have including a demo of CutePDF. any one with any ideas? I don't want to buy Cute for $50 when I should have a workable Adobe solution!!!
