We are burning a collection of PDFs on a CD-ROM. How can I make a splash screen with the CD’s contents and links to individual documents that will open automatically?
I am a firm believer in reading documentation, but I can’t figure where to look for this–and I’ve already spent a couple of hours looking.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers, Bill
You can create a welcome page as the first page in a PDF document or a separate document as a welcome page and add links and/or bookmarks to other pages.
To have the welcome page open when the CD-ROM is inserted, you need to use a third party utility or write an autorun script (Windows) that will launch Adobe Reader and open the file.
Some third party applications will permit you to enable searching a user's computer to see if Adobe Reader is installed. If not the user is prompted to install Reader which you can freely distribute on CD-ROM if you comply with Adobe Licensing guidelines.
