Creating a email size PDF

I own Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and until recently have always used .jpg format to email my catalogue sheets to customers. Recently I have discovered PDF's so I purchased adobe acrobat 8 standard to create PDF versions of my catalogue sheets instead of jpegs. When I go to create a PDF from acrobat, it says the file type (PSD) is not supported. When I create a PDF out of adobe it is very large file, too big to email. How do I create small file size PDF's from photoshop files, and keep the image quality as I have seen so many others do? Does it require another program?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 8, Windows

Just save the file from Photoshop as a Photoshop PDF document and users of Acrobat/Reader can open and view your files. Alternately, you can save from Photoshop in a variety of other image formats such as JPEG, PNG, TIFF, etc. and open those files directly in Acrobat.
