Creating PDF/A-1a file from TIF

Hi,

I'm unable to convert a TIF file into a PDF/A-1a file, with Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.2.
The TIF specifications are: A4, black&white, 300dpi.

When i do the 'preflight' 'Convert to PDF/A-1a (sRGB) i get the following alert:

> Output preview
> When 'Output preview' is turned on Acrobat will simulate the appearance of the current PDF
> document so that it will look very similar on screen to the final printed output. It is preferable
> to have 'Output preview' enabled to preview the appearance of the final output.

How can I turn of this 'Output preview'? Or is something else causing the problem?

Converting the TIF to PDF/A-1b gives no troubles, but when i try to convert the 1b PDF to 1a I will get the same error.

Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction?

Thanks a lot!

Isn't there anyone who knows how to create a PDF/A-1a document from a TIF file?

Please, there must be someone who knows how to do it.

One of the key differences between PDF-1a and 1b is that the former requires document structure (logical representation of the content of the document) to be present. There is no document structure for an image file such as Tiff. In other words, having a PDF/1a from an image file does not make much sense. Why would you want to do this?

Ok, I managed to do it.

For the people who wanna know how, this is how i did it:

Step 1: create a PDF from the TIF
Step 2: Advanced -> Accessibility -> Add Tags to Document
Step 3: Advanced -> Preflight -> PDF/A Compliance "Convert to PDF/A-1a (sRGB)" -> ExecuteDone.

I hope this will be helpfull for people with a simular problem.

Hi Abhigyan, thanks for your reply.

I believe you if you say it makes not much sense, but the customer i work for only accepts PDF/A-1a. Thats why i needed to create a PDF/A-1a from a TIF.
