I just updated my Acrobat 9, but I'm still getting the error:

%%[Page: 49]%%
%%[ Error: syntaxerror; OffendingCommand: --nostringval-- ]%%

Stack:
/IsDistiller5050

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

I removed the text on page 49 of the document and the error moved to page 47.

Any suggestions?

The offending command "lsDistiller5050" was not listed in the document at the link.

I was finally able to create a PDF. I think the problem was due to unavailable fonts in one of the files.

I had this problem when creating a pdf file from MS Word. I printed to the PDF Writer, and received that same error message.

The problem is that one of the font used is not being recognized or cannot be embedded or dowloaded. It occurred to me that perhaps my "special font" used was not being read correctly or was too large to process. When I lowered my "special font" size to 30pts or below, it worked. Since, I wanted a large font, I changed my "special font" to a more standardized/recognizable" font, and the PDF Writer worked.

Try changing the "special font" or reducing its size, and perhaps it will work for you, too.

Good luck,
