I am trying to create a pdf from QuarkXPress. (Quark 7.2, Acrobat Professional CS3 / 8.1, Mac OSX 10.4.10.) I have a Quark doc open, tell it to print and select the Adobe PDF 8.0 as the printer (which is what I always did before I updated everything...selecting the Acrobat pdf in the print window). I've set the file to create the pdf on my desktop. The file appears to print, processes each page of a 28-page doc, and seems to finish. When it's done, there is no pdf and no log, no error message. I have my Quark prefs set to go direct to pdf, rather than to create a postscript file for later distilling (which is how I used to do it using Quark 6.5 and an older version of Distiller). I did manage to find one error note in Distiller, but this doesn't come up every time:

Thought Acrobat might be having a problem with our server so I copied the Quark file to my desktop and tried to distill directly from my desktop to my desktop. Still nothing. I also tried creating an InDesign file and distilling it. I can export a pdf from both of these programs, but need the control that Acrobat gives me. Any ideas?
