I produce a report that combines text from Microsoft Word and graphs and tables from Excel. A colleague suggested that I combine them in Adobe Acrobat Professional, which I currently don’t own. Before I purchase a copy I need to have some questions answered.
If I link to an Excel graph or table and subsequently make a change to the graph or table, will Adobe Professional update the link to include the revisions? If so, how is this accomplished?
Second question, after I have made all my changes and want to produce a final document, can I remove the links so that viewers will not have access to the original linked documents? If so, how is this accomplished?
A graph or table isn't updated visually in Acrobat. However, if you have a link to a file, that will display whatever is defined by the link regardless of its revision status. The only proviso is that the file path remains the same.
In a PDF document, use the Link tool in the Advanced Editing toolbar to display the links and delete them.
