I have attached a signed pdf to e-mail, but when pdf is opened the signature displays a ? symbol over it- the computer receiving the e-mail attachment only has adobe reader. Can I stop this from happening when I add the signature to my original document

Sarah,
The question mark icon indicates that the signature couldn’t be validated because the signer’s certificate isn’t in the list of trusted identities.

You will need to distribute the public key (certificate) that is associated with the digital ID
that is your "signature".

The user(s) must register the digital ID (which you send to them) in Reader.
Users of Adobe Reader will have to have this certificate available and accessible to Adobe Reader
so the signature may be validated.
