error when using 'optimize scanned PDF' on a color PDF

Acrobat Pro 9.3.3. PDF created by scanning with CanoScan Toolbox 5.0.1.0.

When I load grayscale PDFs in and used 'optimize scanned pdf', default settings, looks great.

When I load color PDFs in and use 'optimize scanned pdf', the image gains a 'stutter' at the bottom of the page - about an inch of the image repeats itself. Confirmed that this is an actual change to the image by printing the 'optimized' pdf and seeing the stutter in the hardcopy.

Any suggestions? This happens to single page documents, multiple page documents... ???

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.3.1, Macintosh

I (and many others) have reported this bug to Adobe several times. It NEVER gets fixed!

The bug applies only to the Mac version; optimization of files under Windows works just fine.

It has been suggested to me that that difference is the very reason the bug doesn't get fixed.
