I embedded several excell spreadsheets into a word document and then created a pdf. The spreadsheets open and function correctly in word, but once the file is saved as a pdf, the spreadsheets are no longer accessable. Can you help please?

That's how the conversion works. You'll need to embed them as attachment in the PDF to achieve something similar
