Font Size changing

When converting a Word document to PDF, the PDF font size changes from 12 (in the word doc) to 11.5 in the PDF. I am using a TimesNewRoman font. Can anyone shed some light on this behavior?

How are you measuring this?

I've been using Acrobat since v1.0 and still get amazed by its power. An Acrobat ACE since 1999

I am copying and pasting the text from the PDF files to Word or Wordpad. The odd thing is that the 18 point text maintains the proper size.
